December is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. The weather turns cold, decorations go up and the question of extending the federal 179(d) tax deduction goes before Congress. Year after year, the tax deduction had been extended but this year the 179(d) deduction along with other expiring provisions of the tax code have been left on the cutting room floor. The major tax reform bill currently being finalized does not include a provision for the extension of 179(d). This may finally mark the end of the road, but be assured that if any efforts arise to bring it back we will let you know. You can read our latest update on 179(d) here.
